I am modern! My clothes are cropped!

Times have changed!
Clothes have changed too or I should say cropped down :P

mentalities too have? nO I say!! not completely at least!

Just two examples .... and am sure am going to make you ponder!

1. The very sophisticated ultrasound machine! Just go through any article over the internet on how it actually works ...like HERE and you might get thoroughly confused. No No I am not going to make you think about the scientific principles it works on :P

Well let me come to the point. The point is sex determination.

2. One of my blog friends (Raahul) recently told me that there's a surgery by which the Hymen(the so called proof of virginity) can be reconstructed!

Strange!!

Something common in the two points I discussed above!
Two of the most modern and sophisticated technologies are used to actually satisfy the PRIMITIVE needs.

"Modernity" is nothing but the clothes :P

Hey! Ultrasound isn't that sophisticated, and the hymen reconstruction is basically a crude operation.. Though both are 'modern' world developments, and I completely agree with the fact you're trying to convey here, about the usage of these technologies and procedures for fulfillment of dark, primitive desires..

However, please be kind and explain you title please.. :)

Foetal sex determination is a crime. Ultrasound is used largely to check abnormalities(teratogenic defects) in the growing foetus.

As for hymen re-construction, yes,its barbaric.I seriously pity women who think "virginity" is the key to "an ideal life-partner".

You have a very valid point there. Though there is so much development in technology, we haven't payed much attention on development of ourselves.
This results in using better and better technology to do the same old/insane things! And that is very dangerous.
I feel though technological advancements are important, inner development or rather inner transformation is much more important.

As far as I see it, most of the time, how modern a person is, is judged by the types of clothes that person wear.
So, very apt title as well! :)

There are ppl who make the best use of techology and those who make the bad use. I think majority fall in the second category...

Yes, that's true, a woman's virginity can be reconstructed through surgery. But that is just cheating. Once a girl loses her virginity, she can not regain it again since virginity is beyond one's sex organ. It also includes the mental and emotional aspects of womanhood, the loss of innocence and the onset or awakening of a woman's sensuality. I will not dwell on the morality of losing virginity in pre marriage. Suffice it to say that it is supposed to be a woman's greatest gift to her husband. Thanks for the post. God bless you always.
